About Me
What I love about being an educator...:

One of the best part of a teacher’s day is watching the students dance.  There is nothing more entertaining!  On a more serious note, our brains are one of our most important assets to our bodies.  There is nothing more important and rewarding to me than contributing to the growth of what makes humans humane. Kindergarteners are especially brand new to this development of not only what is one plus one but also what right and wrong, what is important to us, what we can do to make others happy, and so on.  I have been raised around children (big family) and watching each one grow and develop all of these ideologies in their own way is interesting and, at the risk of sounding cliché, so rewarding!

Interests and hobbies...:

I absolutely love to do anything outside!  Fishing, hiking, biking, and simply going for a walk are just a few.  I also love reading, doing crafts, and hanging out with my adorable nieces and nephews.  One of my greatest passions is to experience different perspectives and cultures and as a result I LOVE to travel.

Favorite Book and why...:

My favorite book is "Mama, Do You Love Me" by Barbara M. Joosse.  It reminds me of my childhood and was one of the first books ever read.

Something most people do not know about me...:

My family moved to Alaska when I was about a year old and moved back to Colorado when I was seven.  Even though I was born in Colorado, I definitely considered myself "from Alaska" for the first half of my life!

My Classroom
What Makes CLPE Special:

CLPE is the best elementary schools ever!  I actually attended this elementary school as a child.  Out of every school I have worked at and/or with, I have never experienced such a positive and welcoming community.  I have also seen and experienced so many positive interactions not only between students and staff but also between the students themselves!

About my IB classroom...:

The students help guide their learning through their own inquiry and wonderings.  The curriculum is based around a deeper and more applicable understanding of the content as well as an open and worldly perspective. The subjects tend to be transdisciplinary meaning that each content area has evidence of another; for instance social studies is imbedded in our literacy lesson and so on.  I absolutely love to travel and expereince new cultures and I love to explore the "international" side of IB with the students.
